Customers left stranded as outage hits major bank

Numerous users of the biggest bank in Australia have been unable to access their accounts due to a significant system failure that occurred on Monday morning.

The financial institution announced that various functionalities were impacted throughout the whole country after the disruption occurred at approximately 7 in the morning according to the Australian Eastern Standard Time.

Comm Bank has issued a statement on social media acknowledging that some of their customers are facing challenges in accessing certain services. The company has assured that their team is actively looking into the issue and trying to find a solution as soon as possible.

"We apologize for the trouble and appreciate your understanding. We will give you a progress report shortly."

The financial institution has also raised concerns that its customer service centers have received an excessive amount of calls from anxious clients. The bank has clarified that its physical locations are currently open but its workers may not possess any extra information regarding the matter.

The representative of CBA expressed regret and gratitude towards the clients for their understanding. Those who were impacted were advised to regularly visit the bank's official website for any recent developments.

The website Downdetector revealed that over 3200 individuals had reported experiencing outages. Majority of these individuals specified facing difficulties with internet banking and using the Comm Bank application.

Clients resorted to using social networking platforms to complain of being abandoned while attempting to submit payments.

A Twitter user shared that their father attempted to settle his credit card dues but faced an issue with Commonwealth Bank's system being down. The user was advised to return after half an hour. The user also inquired if anyone else faced similar problems.

"I found out the hard way that my card didn't work after a whole week of shopping," another person wrote, confirming this fact.

Some other clients have mentioned that the problem has impacted automated teller machines as well.

"Hey Comm Bank, it would be great if you could inform us customers beforehand of the reasons why we are unable to access Netbank. Some people are also reporting that their funds are not being displayed on ATMs despite having sufficient funds," a customer posted on Twitter.

The Netbank system is currently not functioning. It is causing a lot of disarray. The situation is more problematic because it is the first day of school holidays. CommBank has experienced a complete failure. Online transactions, ATMs, and EFTs are all unavailable. If you attempt calling for assistance, you'll likely face long wait times due to the high call volumes.
