NormCyber, a highly regarded provider of managed cybersecurity services for medium-sized companies, has exposed the fact that UK enterprises are under relentless assault from countless automated cyber dangers. Throughout the month of March 2023, businesses of modest size, with a workforce of less than 250 individuals, encountered an overwhelmingly high quantity of 159 million threats. Meanwhile, larger corporations employing over 250 staff members faced an astonishing average of 1.13 billion threats.

During the month of March, NormCyber used its CSaaS platform to process numerous cybersecurity events. Out of these events, only a small portion needed any action to be taken. For mid-sized organizations, NormCyber's UK-based Security Operations Centre (SOC) had to investigate and/or resolve 764 alerts. Out of these, only 16 incidents were deemed significant enough to bring to the customer's attention. Larger companies, on the other hand, had an average of 2,421 alerts that required SOC investigation, with only 12 incidents warranting customer attention.

Pete Bowers, NormCyber's COO, explained the challenges that smaller IT teams face in dealing with the increasing number of cyber threats. It is hard for them to determine which events need attention and action. It's not surprising that they may struggle to prioritize these issues. However, just one incident slipping through their defenses can have severe consequences. Companies that don't have an efficient and automated system to handle these threats will soon feel overwhelmed by the constant stream of alerts. This can exhaust their resources and put them in a vulnerable position.

NormCyber has recently introduced enhanced vulnerability and patch management reporting features to its LIVE customer dashboard, aiming to assist businesses in identifying and resolving high-risk threats more effectively. By utilizing the smartbloc technology, customers can now easily track the deployment of patches to different devices. This includes patches for various operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Mac, as well as third-party applications numbering over 300. In addition, businesses can now identify vulnerabilities that necessitate patching and those that can be resolved by simply adjusting configurations. This comprehensive view enables businesses to enhance their security measures in the most efficient and effective manner possible.

In contrast to traditional technology-driven implementations, smartbloc. brings together round-the-clock managed protection against cyber threats with ongoing assessments of security vulnerabilities, ongoing training to ensure cyber safety, and assistance with achieving certification, compliance, and responding to incidents, with the support of a team of legal professionals. This comprehensive service combines extensive technical expertise with straightforward reporting tailored for top executives, offering them crucial insights and practical recommendations to develop a robust cybersecurity and data protection plan. It is specifically designed for medium-sized businesses, including those aiming for Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials PLUS certification.
