‘It is possible’ for EV’s to be controlled by Chinese officials

James Paterson, the Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Cyber Security, has expressed concerns regarding the potential for Chinese officials to remotely manipulate electric vehicles. According to Paterson, this is feasible due to the fact that a significant number of electric cars are currently manufactured in China, with a considerable portion being produced by Chinese-owned and controlled companies. Paterson argues that as these vehicles essentially function as computers on wheels, being internet-connected devices, there exists a possibility that any Chinese-made internet-connected device can be controlled or, at the very least, susceptible to such control.
