70% Of Young Workers Seek Flexible Jobs

Generation Z

Deloitte found that 77% of Generation Z and 71% of Millennials would seek new employment if required to work full-time in the office.

An audit and assurance provider recently did a survey. It was for Gen Z and millennials and was the 12th year they did it. Over 22,000 people from 44 countries were asked questions. The results showed that 46% of Gen Z and 42% of millennials might not ask for more flexibility at work if the economy doesn't get better.

Over half of Gen Z and almost half of Millennials feel stressed most of the time. This is higher than the worldwide average. One in four Millennials check work emails outside of their normal working hours at least five days a week.

Gen Zs and Millennials are worried about the cost of living crisis for the second year in a row. 50% of Gen Zs and 55% of Millennials chose it as their top concern. This is higher than the global average of 35% of Gen Zs and 42% of Millennials. Last year's figures were 31% for Gen Zs and 38% for Millennials.

Gen Zs and Millennials often live from paycheck to paycheck. They worry about not having enough money to cover their bills. Remote work is valued by 25% of Gen Zs and 26% of Millennials because it helps them save money.

In Deloitte, Kate Sweeney, partner and human capital lead, believes that companies should provide flexibility for people from two generations to work from their preferred location. The leaders of the company should lead the way: by providing training for managers and workers to identify signs of poor mental health and to provide resources for their employees.
