Dutch Prefer Southern Europe For Vacations
Lots of Dutch people want sun, sea, and beach on their summer holiday. Big travel companies say lots of people are going to Southern Europe. Some travel companies think that more people want active holidays in cooler places.
TUI spokesperson said lots of people go on vacation for sun and Mediterranean vibes. TUI sold many flights to Spain, Greece, and Turkey. Denmark is the top road trip spot, and Lake Garda is next in Italy.
Sunweb Group and Corendon are experiencing high demand for holidays to Greek and Spanish islands, Turkey, and Southern Europe. Other popular destinations include cruises to places like the Mediterranean, Norwegian fjords, England, and Scotland.
ANWB found that many Europeans are traveling more. They surveyed people and found that one-third of Dutch travelers are going to southern Europe. Also, more people are visiting their website for information on northern Europe. ANWB believes that Scandinavia is now a popular summer destination for many travelers.
More people are booking vacations in Northwest Europe and Scandinavia. Buro Scanbrit, a travel agency, has reported increased bookings this summer compared to last year. They have seen a rise in trips to Norway and Denmark. Scotland and Ireland are also more popular than a year ago according to their spokesperson.
Nordic, a member of the industry, noticed more demand. Families and seniors used to seek peace and space in the north, but now teenagers are also going there. Hugo van Drie, the director, said that they see younger people who prefer sporty hikes in the mountains over fun times in Spanish bars.
Nordic says people want adventure on vacation. Sunweb Group agrees. More people go to the Alps in summer for active vacations, says Sunweb.
