Coles will pay $25 million to salaried supermarket managers who were underpaid. This was an inadvertent mistake.

On Friday, the supermarket giant stated that they apologize completely to the team members who were affected.

Coles set aside $25m for paying staff in 2021. They are being investigated by the Fair Work Ombudsman and are also in a class-action lawsuit for underpaying staff.

The supermarket said it worked hard on these issues. They are making changes based on how the issues evolved.

Coles didn't pay their salaried store managers enough. The managers worked a lot of overtime. Due to this, they didn't get their lawful entitlements. This caused underpayments.

Many big companies in Australia, like Woolworths, Qantas, and Michael Hill Jewellers, are breaking the country's complex industrial wage laws. Other companies like BHP, Super Retail Group, and Rockpool Dining Group have also confessed to this. Even Domino's Pizza and Sunglass Hut have admitted wrongdoing.
