New standard clears geopolymer concrete for infrastructure applications in Australia

Carbon

Producers of alternative cement and concrete in Australia are pleased with the introduction of a new civil engineering standard that allows for the use of geopolymer concrete with reduced CO2 emissions in infrastructure projects. Wagners, a company that manufactures Earth Friendly Concrete (EFC), expressed that this update has eliminated one of the main obstacles preventing wider acceptance in the market. EFC replaces all cement with supplementary materials like ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) and pulverised fly ash, thanks to its unique binding technology. Wagners had previously supplied EFC for the London Power Tunnels project in the UK, adhering to local building codes and technical approval. The company now anticipates that a similar standard will be implemented in the EU.
