Elon Musk Subpoenaed For Epstein Lawsuit Docs

Elon Musk

Elon Musk got a subpoena from the U.S. Virgin Islands. The government wants documents for a lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase. The lawsuit is about sex trafficking by Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein was a long-time customer of the bank who has since passed away. The filing came out on Monday.

The Virgin Islands issued a subpoena to Musk on April 28. However, they have not been able to serve it. The subpoena suggests that Epstein may have referred Musk to JPMorgan.

The U.S. territory wants to subpoena Musk. They asked Judge Jed Rakoff to allow them to serve it to Tesla's registered agent in Manhattan federal court.

The subpoena requires Musk to provide papers that prove any communication he had with JPMorgan and Epstein. He also needs to show papers on Epstein's involvement in human trafficking or getting women for sex.

JPMorgan is being sued by the Virgin Islands. They say JPMorgan allowed Epstein to bring young women to his island. The women were abused there. The Virgin Islands say JPMorgan benefited from this.

The government says JPMorgan did something bad, but JPMorgan says no. A lady is also suing them. The boss, Jamie Dimon, will talk in court for both cases starting on May 26.

On May 4, the Virgin Islands government requested documents from Larry Page. They've been having trouble finding him.

Page's Google co-founder Sergey Brin received subpoenas from the same area. Other individuals that received subpoenas include former Disney executive Michael Ovitz, Hyatt Hotels executive chairman Thomas Pritzker, and billionaire real estate investor Mort Zuckerman.

The Virgin Islands said on Monday that Elon Musk may have been referred or tried to refer to JPMorgan by Epstein, based on information they have. Musk is not only the CEO of Tesla, but also runs SpaceX and owns Twitter.

The government is searching for Musk's address. They hired an investigation company to help. The government talked to one of Musk's lawyers as well.

The lawyer in previous national cases said he doesn't need to be personally handed legal papers, as per the document.

The Government sent an email to Mr. Musk's lawyer to ask if he could accept legal papers for Mr. Musk. They didn't get an answer.

CNBC asked Musk for a comment. Musk did not reply right away.

Musk answered a Twitter user on Monday. The user's name is @unusual_whales. They tweeted an article. Musk replied to this tweet.

Musk says it's foolish. He thinks it's silly for many reasons. Cretin never told him anything. Musk wouldn't ask a stupid thief for advice.

Musk wrote that JPM let Tesla down ten years ago. They had Tesla's global commercial banking business, but then they withdrew. Musk said that he has never forgiven them.

Epstein helped Musk when SEC investigated Musk's comments about privatising the company. Epstein told James Stewart from The New York Times in 2018.

The Times asked Tesla for their thoughts, and Tesla said they never received advice from Epstein. Epstein told Stewart that Tesla would deny knowing him.

Epstein was pals with Trump, Clinton and Prince Andrew of Britain before. He banked with the institution from 1998 to 2013. In 2008, he admitted to asking a minor for sex in Florida.

Epstein died by suicide in a prison in Manhattan in August 2019. He was arrested for charges related to trafficking children a month before.
