Elon Musk got a subpoena from the US Virgin Islands. It asked for files about the lawsuit against JP Morgan. The lawsuit is about the bank's connection to Jeffrey Epstein. This information came from court papers.

The US District Court in Manhattan received a document stating the Virgin Islands thinks Epstein might have suggested or attempted to suggest JP Morgan as a client to Mr Musk. They tried to give Tesla CEO a subpoena since April.

The nation of Caribbean hired a private eye. The aim was to find Mr. Musk's address. They wanted to get in touch with him. They tried to use an attorney who had previously been part of cases against Mr. Musk.

The Virgin Islands said they didn't get a response about his power.

Process servers looked for Mr Musk at a Tesla business address. They couldn't find him. The filing says this.

The Virgin Islands wanted to serve Mr Musk with a subpoena. They asked Judge Jed Rakoff to give them permission to do it by "alternative service". The service could involve an advertisement in a newspaper to alert him.

Tesla has been contacted by The Independent for a comment.

JP Morgan is being sued by the Virgin Islands in Manhattan. The accusations are that JP Morgan ignored sexual abuse and trafficking of young girls that went on for decades.

Last year, some of Epstein's supposed victims filed a civil lawsuit against JP Morgan. The claims made in the lawsuit were alike.

The lawsuit in US Virgin Islands is now bigger. They asked Google owners Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Hyatt executive Thomas Pritzker and property mogul Mortimer Zuckerman to help.

Epstein's estate paid $105m to the US Virgin Islands in November. This was to settle a lawsuit. The lawsuit stated that Epstein used his private island for sex-trafficking. The lawsuit was separate from the other charges. Epstein is no longer alive.

Epstein's Great Saint James and Little Saint James, both private US Virgin Islands, have been sold to billionaire banker Stephen Deckoff recently.
