Kia Debuts Limited Edition EV6, Only 1,000 Will Be Made
Kia has introduced the limited edition of its EV6 called the "North American Utility Vehicle of the Year Limited Edition." This exclusive model is designed to honor the prestigious award bestowed upon the electric crossover in the United States.
If you wake up in the middle of the night, you might not recall the exact name of the limited edition model. However, there are other vital facts that you should keep in mind about the Kia automobile displayed at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering, if you are considering buying one for yourself.
The EV6 special edition is available in a unique Deep Forest Green color with an interior in Desert Beige. Kia has made it clear that this is a special edition by adding the official North American Car, Truck and Utility of the Year (NACTOY) medallion and the 'teaser silhouette' next to the gear selector. Kia earned this prestigious award in January for their EV model.
The design of the vehicle incorporates elements from the Wind and GT-Line trims, making it easily identifiable on the road. Certain exterior components, such as the wheel arch moldings and front and rear fasciae, have been blacked-out, much like those seen on the EV6 Wind. Additionally, the model is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display, and a Surround View Monitor with a 360-degree camera. In terms of comfort and convenience, a heated, flat-bottom steering wheel and heated rear seats are also included.
Based on the foundation of the E-GMP structure, the Kia EV6 Limited Edition for North American Utility Vehicle of the Year is equipped with a dual-motor system. The front axle accommodates a 74-kilowatt unit, while the rear features a 165-kilowatt unit, resulting in a total power output of 320 horsepower (equivalent to 325 PS) and 446 pound-feet (605 Newton-meters) of torque. To store energy, the vehicle relies on a 77.4-kilowatt-hour battery pack, allowing it to travel up to 249 miles (or 400 kilometers) before needing a recharge. Impressively, the EV6 can achieve a 0 to 62 mph (0-100 kph) acceleration in just 5.2 seconds.
Kia has furnished the electric crossover with the ability to charge at an incredibly fast rate using DC, allowing it to go from 10 to 80% in a mere 18 minutes. Additionally, they have incorporated the most up-to-date heat pump technology, effectively minimizing heat wastage.
The specific cost of the Kia EV6 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year Limited Edition is currently unknown. However, more information regarding its price will probably be revealed nearer to its official release. In the US, the starting price for the EV6 is $42,600.
In the current year, the Kia EV6 GT received the prestigious title of 2023 World Performance Car. Hence, it wouldn't be astonishing if the South Korean automaker introduces a distinctive version carrying the same moniker.
