A software problem has been found in Kia cars that could prevent the indicators from illuminating, leading to the recall of nearly 4,000 vehicles.

The flaws affect Kia MQ4 Sorentos and MQ4 PHEV Sorentos manufactured in the year 2022, raising concerns about the potential for accidents resulting in harm or fatality while driving.

According to the statement provided by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, if the indicators fail to light up as expected, it would make it difficult for fellow road users to perceive whether the vehicle is about to turn or not.

This has the potential to heighten the likelihood of a mishap that could result in severe harm or even demise to individuals inside the vehicle or other individuals on the road.

An immediate call-back has been issued for nearly 4,000 Kia vehicles (shown in the image, the Kia MQ4 Sorento) due to a malfunction in the software.

Concerns were raised when it was discovered that the car's blinkers might not light up as anticipated (as shown in the image of the MQ4 PHEV Sorento).

Individuals who possess the affected vehicles are advised to promptly get in touch with a Kia dealership for the necessary repairs to rectify the flaw, without any incurred expenses.

The most recent recall occurred when a large number of Kia Sportage mid-size SUV and Sorento seven-seat SUVs were called back in June due to a potential issue with the software, which could lead to the vehicle overheating and igniting.

The recall for safety reasons included the Sportage SUV models manufactured between 2015 and 2021, and the Sorento models produced from 2014 to 2020.

Drivers were advised against operating the impacted vehicles until the problem was resolved.
