Luxury 4WDs recalled amid fears of dangerous software fault
Kia Australia has issued a recall for numerous high-end automobiles due to concerns regarding a potentially hazardous glitch in the software.
The current-generation Sorento models are being recalled, impacting a total of 3873 vehicles in Australia.
The recall notice issued by the company stated that the turn indicators may fail to light up as they are supposed to due to a software problem.
If the signals for changing direction do not light up as they should, people on the road would not be able to see if the vehicle is going to turn. This could raise the chances of a mishap that could result in severe harm or even death for those inside the vehicle and/or other people sharing the road.
The federal Department of Transportation also announced the recall on Thursday. You can discover the list of impacted VINs here.
This is relevant to all editions of the 2022 Kia MQ4 and MQ4 (P)HEV models available in Australia.
The individuals who own cars that may be impacted are strongly advised to promptly get in touch with their Kia dealership to book a time for an appointment to update the software in the multifunction switch. The modification will not incur any charges.
