Dow's Q2 Forecast Slashed Due To Demand And Pricing Issues

Reuters

Dow Inc expects lower Q2 revenue due to weak global economy and reduced prices.

The company thinks it will make less money than people thought for the quarter ending June 30. They predict between $11 billion and $11.5 billion in revenue. Analysts thought it would be $12.12 billion.

Dow said they expected to make between $11.75 billion and $12.25 billion this quarter.

At a conference, Dow said China's demand is uneven. They saw less demand for appliances and building materials than they expected in April.

Dow's sales drop because other industries don't need their coatings and adhesives. They usually supply these products to car manufacturers, food packaging companies, and electronics businesses.

The prediction was reduced after their financial officer cautioned about hard times.
