Reality headset sales dropped during Q1, despite the release of PSVR 2 for PlayStation 5 and hype surrounding Apple's AR/VR cases.

The new Quest 3 from Meta might spark more interest in virtual reality. The market for VR headsets has been going down lately. IDC's latest report shows a 54.4% decrease in shipments for AR/VR headsets in Q1 2023.

Meta is still the number one maker of AR/VR headsets, with almost half of the market. Sony's PSVR 2 is in second place with 35.9%. However, the number of PSVR 2 sold is not very high.

This year, ByteDance (Pico) earned 6.1% through new products and markets. DPVR and HTC also got a share, but less than 2%. They got distribution.

The VR industry is losing public interest as time passes. PSVR 2 is losing its initial excitement. Apple is hoping to save the day with their virtual reality glasses, which they will reveal soon.

The rumors say that it won't be a product for everyone, just for a few people. It's going to be a fancy device to see if people like it.

Virtual reality is a problem because people have different opinions. Some people want it to be exclusive. Others want it to be easy to use but not as good.

There are two trends now. The market needs a standard application or utility for these gadgets to be useful. They can't just be cool technology.
