2027 Porsche Cayenne EV spy shots
Porsche made an official statement in March, revealing their plans to introduce an electric version for the next Cayenne model. Recently, some pictures have surfaced that are believed to be early prototypes of this groundbreaking electric vehicle.
The car might resemble one of the several early models for the electric Macan expected in 2024, however, there are several hints suggesting that it is actually a trial version for the completely electric fourth-generation Cayenne.
In contrast to the Macan EV prototypes, the trial vehicle showcases a noticeably broader track, which is evident from the widened wheel arches. Moreover, the inclination of the front windshield differs, and the distance between the front and rear axles is slightly increased, signaled by the rear wheels being positioned further towards the back.
It is logical to utilize Macan EV prototypes as a disguise for the inner workings of the Cayenne EV because both cars are anticipated to utilize the Volkswagen Group's PPE modular platform, specifically created for high-end electric vehicles. This platform has the versatility to produce various models of different sizes, including both lower and higher height designs.

In regards to the Macan electric vehicle, the framework will include a battery pack with a capacity of 98-kilowatt hour and a motor propelling both front and rear axles. The total power generated from at least one version will exceed 603 horsepower, and it is highly probable that the Cayenne electric vehicle will produce even greater power outputs.
Even though it hasn't been officially confirmed yet, there might be a possibility of having a four-motor powertrain option for the electric Cayenne. This particular system would not only provide impressive power capabilities but also offer enhanced and more accurate torque vectoring control. Porsche had previously announced their plans to develop such a system back in 2019.
In March, Porsche revealed their plans for the Cayenne EV. They mentioned that the electric 718 is expected to be released in 2025 and will have its own unique platform designed specifically for sports cars. Porsche has also confirmed their intentions to introduce a three-row electric SUV that will be positioned above the Cayenne. This SUV is scheduled for release in 2027 and will utilize the next-generation SSP Sport platform. Based on this timeline, it is likely that the Cayenne EV will be available in 2026 and officially launched in the market as a 2027 model.

Volkswagen Group's factory located in Bratislava, Slovakia, will be responsible for the manufacturing process. At present, this facility is primarily responsible for assembling the Cayenne, a gas-powered vehicle that recently went through significant enhancements for the 2024 edition.
Porsche foresees that a significant proportion, approximately 80%, of its sales will consist of electric vehicles by the conclusion of the coming decade. Consequently, the majority of Porsche's range of vehicles will exchange traditional combustion engines for advanced battery technology in the forthcoming years. Previously, Porsche had mentioned that only the iconic 911 model would continue to rely on a gasoline-powered engine until the year 2030 arrives.
Porsche may potentially include an electric supercar in their lineup, as hinted by the introduction of the Mission X concept. However, the specific timeframe for the release of this model has not been disclosed by Porsche.
