Three more iconic lollies quietly discontinued

Australians who are in search of a pack of Red Ripperz, Sherbies, or Milkos are in for disappointment as the candy maker Allen's has declared that these treats will no longer be available at grocery stores.

The candy producer, which is under the ownership of Nestle, will be ceasing the sales of the three lollipops indefinitely as they transfer the manufacturing process to a recently expanded facility located in the rural region of Victoria.

Melanie Chen, the marketing head of Nestle confectionery, confirmed to 7Life on Tuesday that the production of our individual packets of Allen's Red Ripperz Sticks, Sherbies, and Milkos has been temporarily halted. This pause in production is due to our relocation to a new facility in Broadford.

We are putting in a lot of effort to restock these items in their individual packaging and make them available on the shelves again as quickly as we can.

The announcement comes after several months of online rumors, as fans were having difficulty locating Sherbies candy bags in the confectionery section.

On the other hand, Ms Chen made it clear that the famous candies will not be permanently discontinued, and customers are still able to purchase them at leading grocery stores.

"Fortunately, you can still come across Red Ripperz, Sherbies, and Milko chews among the assortment of candies in Allen's Chew Mix," mentioned Ms. Chen.

"We will definitely provide you with frequent updates about the reintroduction of individual bags on our Facebook page. Meanwhile, let's express our affection for Allen's Chew Mix."

Established by Alfred Weaver Allen in Melbourne in 1891, Allen's is the biggest and most esteemed producer of sweets in Australia.

Most people recognize this confectionery brand for producing Minties. However, the company has been causing mild anger on social media lately due to its tendency to stop producing some of its most famous candies.

Although many Australians feel nostalgic about it, Allen's is not hesitant to completely eliminate candies that are no longer selling well.

In 2015, the company completely eliminated the long-standing sweets Spearmint Leaves and Green Frogs due to consistently poor sales.

At the beginning of this year, Allen's declared the discontinuation of Fantales, a delicious caramel treat that used to come with a fun movie trivia on its packaging.

One of the factors leading to the decision of discontinuing Fantales was the deteriorating infrastructure at the company's nearby manufacturing facilities, as well as the insufficient profitability that made it impractical to invest in modern equipment.
