I've been informing all of you about this inevitable occurrence: as the electric bicycle sector advances, we are noticing the emergence of more robust and reasonably priced models. Indeed, swiftness has been an enticing factor ever since human beings observed the initial cheetahs darting swiftly across the terrain.

Well, it's not referred to as the cheetah, rather, it goes by the name Scorpion X2 and it's a creation from none other than Juiced Bikes, a rapidly expanding e-bike manufacturer in America. If you're familiar with Juiced, it's probably because I've written about their achievements multiple times. The best part is, if you're in search of an American brand that takes pride in its roots, this team based in California might be a perfect fit for you.

When it comes to the Scorpion, it's the kind of electric bicycle designed for everyday people and those of us who enjoy speeding along the streets without exerting any effort. Moreover, it has been adjusted with certain urban-focused characteristics to enable you to accomplish more, while also encouraging you to leave your car at home, at least for some journeys. Now is the time to explore what this remarkable bike has in store for you, available for a reasonable price of no more than $1,500 (€1,400 at the current exchange rates, if you place a pre-order).

Now, here's where I strongly encourage you to take a look at the pictures in the gallery. Why? Well, it's just so that whatever the heck I'm discussing here becomes clearer. Once you've done that, return to the text and continue from where you stopped.

To begin our investigation of the X2, let's kick things off with the foundation that plays a crucial role in the operation of any bicycle or e-bike: the frame. It seems that Juiced had their sights set on creating an e-bike that is not only comfortable but also prioritizes safety. This is evident in the step-through frame design, which allows for convenient mounting and dismounting of the X2 without worrying about losing balance. This is particularly advantageous for individuals who frequently transport goods, thanks to the inclusion of a rear cargo rack.

But to my surprise, I'm witnessing something unexpected. Upon further examination of the X2, I noticed certain influences taken from electric bicycles that are embracing the style of both scramblers and café racers. This design aesthetic is evident in the front portion of the X2, while the rear shocks appear to have been directly taken from a moped's structure. Indeed, it's a remarkable beast equipped with a complete suspension system!

When you really consider it, the velocities you can achieve with this contraption are sufficient to give you the sensation of riding a low-power motorcycle or scooter. I'm referring to a maximum speed of 28 mph (45 kph) that is limited by the software; that's the incredible pace at which you can zip through your local area on the X2.

How can this be achieved? By attaching a large motor to the back wheel of the X2. Juiced refers to it as a strong 1,000 W motor provided by Bafang, which effortlessly propels you and any goods you may have. And in case you have any concerns about Bafang, rest assured, they are highly experienced and skilled pioneers in this field.

The second part of everything related to X2 concerns the battery located. In general, Juiced includes a detachable battery on the lower tube, and within that pack, there is a capacity of 15.6 ampere-hours. As stated by the producer, this is sufficient to sustain your ride for a little over 55 miles (88.5 kilometers). That's an impressive distance, everyone!

Certainly, the actual distances you can cover while riding outdoors may vary from the distances achieved during testing, but you'll still be able to zoom along at approximately 28 mph for about 40 miles (64 kilometers) or so. Taking into account that on average, Americans travel approximately 37 miles (60 kilometers) by car in a day, I fail to see any reason to complain. And if you desire more distance coverage, I'm certain you can purchase an additional battery pack for an extra cost, of course.

While examining the remaining components and characteristics of the X2, it dawned on me that Juiced had prioritized comfort. The step-through design and dual suspension not only absorb the various obstacles thrown at you in the bustling city, but the inclusion of 4 wide fat tires also offers an advantage in tackling cracks and curbs. It's worth noting that the ride may feel slightly bouncy though.

The remaining part of the X2 is equipped with two hydraulic brakes that grip onto two discs, front and back lights for safety measures, a USB charging port attached to the handlebar, and fenders to maintain cleanliness. Additionally, there is a useful rack at the back, which proves to be essential in urban areas, especially if you need to transport groceries. I am curious if it is possible to install a child seat in this area. Regardless of what you choose, it is able to support up to 50 pounds.

Combine all of that and what do you get? Well, judging by the appearance, an impressive electric bicycle that allows you to zip around the city, conserving valuable fuel. Furthermore, with its impressive range of over 55 miles, the X2 could potentially assist you on weekend escapades.

Recently, Juiced launched this innovative device worldwide on September 6, 2023, and it's uncertain how long the discounted offer for early orders will endure, after which the cost will rise to $1,900 (€1,775).
