Avantor Inaugurates Expanded Singapore Hub

Singapore

Avantor has just opened its expanded Singapore Hub, complete with newly incorporated cGMP production and a top-notch quality control lab. This centralized facility caters to customers throughout Asia, the Middle East, and Africa (AMEA), reinforcing the region's advancement in innovation and biopharmaceutical industries.

Conveniently situated in Singapore, the center ensures faster processing and facilitates customers' reach to crucial raw materials necessary for AMEA's research and advancement in the pharmaceutical field, all while maintaining strict quality measures.

According to Christophe Couturier, the Executive Vice President of AMEA, Avantor is aware of the increasing challenges posed by customer demands and regulatory standards in the biopharmaceutical industry of AMEA. To address this, Avantor has decided to strengthen its operations in the region by establishing the Singapore Manufacturing and Distribution Hub. This move reflects Avantor's long-standing dedication to meeting the changing requirements of its customers and contributing to the progress of life-altering scientific discoveries.

Avantor executives, including Christophe Couturier and Narayana Rao, Vice President of Biopharma - AMEA, along with Elaine Teo, Senior Vice President and Head of Investment Facilitation at the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), presided over the official inauguration ceremony.

According to Elaine Teo, Senior Vice President of EDB, Avantor's recent expansion of its Singapore hub will improve the availability of essential materials and services needed by biopharma manufacturers in Singapore and the surrounding area. This will make the supply chain more robust for businesses and enhance the competitiveness of Singapore's biomedical sciences industry, which is a crucial part of the manufacturing sector. Avantor's continued investments in Singapore show their confidence in our manufacturing and supply chain capabilities. These expansions align with EDB's commitment to collaborating with businesses to strengthen their presence and generate new job opportunities in Singapore.

Expanding on Avantor's planned investment for the year 2022, the merging of the existing distribution center with brand-new manufacturing operations includes suites that comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), quality testing facilities, storage for certified products, the ability to trace batches from one to another, and the capability to customize how goods are stacked on pallets. By having these top-notch facilities, the hub can promote innovation and effectiveness in tackling the immediate obstacles faced by the biopharmaceutical industry in the AMEA region.
