Elon Musk

Elon Musk recently revealed that he and Mark Zuckerberg, two of the wealthiest individuals globally, remain determined to engage in a physical altercation. Musk announced that this highly anticipated cage match against Meta's CEO will be broadcasted in real-time on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter). Notably, the event is also aimed at supporting veterans, adding a commendable cause to the spectacle.

Musk recently announced on social media that he and Zuckerberg will engage in a highly anticipated debate. This debate was initially suggested by Musk in June and appeared to be agreed upon by Zuckerberg. Musk further stated that it will be broadcasted live on his platform and any funds generated from it will be donated to charities supporting veterans. However, his counterpart has not yet acknowledged Musk's claim on X, Instagram, or Threads, which is Meta's latest text-based platform.

Musk did not mention the exact amount of money he anticipates from the dispute, or the specific charitable organization that will receive the benefits.

Musk's tweet about being ready for a cage fight was fueled by the upcoming release of Threads. In response, Zuckerberg, via an Instagram post, challenged Musk to specify the location, echoing the famous words Khabib Nurmagomedov used towards Conor McGregor back in 2018.

A representative from Meta later stated that the individual, who is 39 years old, is genuinely interested in challenging Musk. UFC president Dana White also got involved and created a Zuckerberg vs. Musk t-shirt that you can buy. He also mentioned to the New York Times that he would assist in arranging an exhibition fight. However, discussions about the potential fight faded away around the middle of July.

It is still uncertain whether Musk's recent post on X confirmed the occurrence of the match and its live streaming. However, Zuckerberg has consistently shared updates about his own UFC and MMA training on Instagram, which started before the possible clash between the two wealthy individuals.

On Sunday, Musk claimed the title of the wealthiest individual on the planet, boasting a staggering net worth of $232.5 billion. This colossal fortune can be mainly attributed to his significant investments in Tesla and SpaceX, along with his ownership of X. On the other hand, Zuckerberg trailed behind as the seventh richest person, boasting a respectable worth of $110.1 billion.

For a few years now, Musk and Zuckerberg, two wealthy tech executives, have been taking subtle digs at each other. They've used social media to mock each other's platforms and even made personal insults. In July, Musk tweeted a derogatory term for Zuckerberg and suggested a bizarre competition between them. At first, it seemed like just another taunt, but then photos surfaced of the two men training with professional fighters, making it seem like the fight might actually happen. Even Musk's parents weighed in, with his father calling it a lose-lose situation and his mother suggesting they stick to verbal sparring. The sports betting site DraftKings even released odds for the potential match, favoring Zuckerberg. While Musk, who admits to rarely working out, is much heavier and taller than Zuckerberg, the younger executive recently competed in a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu event, winning two medals but passing out during a chokehold. However, Zuckerberg denies losing consciousness.

What To Keep An Eye On

An appointment for the game. The duo have not disclosed the timing of their entry into the boxing ring.

In spite of the playful intentions for a cage match, the dynamics of Musk and Zuckerberg's relationship bear serious significance. In the wake of Meta unveiling Threads as a rival to X (previously called Twitter), Musk's attorney issued a legal threat, alleging that the tech behemoth had poached former Twitter staff and taken away their confidential information. Meta's communications director, Andy Stone, refuted the accusations, stating that no member of the Threads engineering team had ever worked at Twitter; it simply did not happen.

Twitter is reportedly considering legal action against Meta over their similar Threads app. This move comes as Twitter accuses Meta of replicating their platform and infringing on their intellectual property rights.
